  • "LURAY HAWKSBILL GREENWAY TRAIL RECEIVES 8 AWARDS: Valley Conservation Council 2003, Merck 2004, Scenic Virginia 2004, Virginia Municipal League 2005, Shenandoah Valley Soil and Water Conservation Department Urban forestry Award 2006, “Visual Effects”, Parks and Rec, Luray Downtown Initiatives Annual Banquet 2007, “Actor in a Supporting Role”, Patrick O’Brien, Luray Parks and Rec, Luray Downtown Initiative, Luray Downtown Initiatives Annual Banquet 2007. Our most recent award was obtained when Pat O’Brien traveled to the Virginia Downtown Development Association's annual conference in Lynchburg Virginia to represent the town in picking up the associations’ “Awards of Excellence” award for the trail project in October 2007."
  • "GRANT RECEIVED FOR GREENWAY: The Town of Luray was notified by the Department of Conservation and Recreation that it has received yet another grant in the amount of $40,000 to install 2 new restrooms along the Towns award winning greenway trail project. Recently, the Town of Luray received approval of an additional $35,000 that will not only provide for the original restrooms but also 2 new picnic shelters (One with restroom attached) planned to be constructed at the phase #2 pocket park. Construction slated to begin fall 07."
