Financing Greenways in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley
This resource guide provides information about how to establish and finance greenways. It includes links to other online resources on the subject of greenways and trails. The guide is geared to local government officials, nonprofit organizations, and citizen advocates in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.
A “greenway” is generally defined as linear open space. A greenway corridor might be land that hosts passive recreational uses (such as trails), or it might be protected for various purposes (such as wildlife habitat or floodwater control). This guide focuses primarily on financing greenways for recreation and transportation purposes.
